Three steps, wall to ceiling to corner — the order matters.
1. Treat Lateral Wall Reflections
Install wall acoustic panels at the first reflection points on both side walls to eliminate flutter echo and slap-back echo. This is almost always the first and highest-impact step.
2. Control Ceiling Reflections
Hang ceiling cloud panels above the mix or listening position to neutralize vertical standing waves and improve vocal clarity.
3. Absorb Bass Buildup in Corners
Place floor-to-ceiling corner bass traps in all four corners to control low-frequency room modes from 60Hz upward — corners are where bass energy naturally accumulates.
Most rooms benefit from doing these roughly in this order: walls first (biggest, cheapest win), then ceiling, then corners for full-range control.
